Welcome to my blog!

Hello!
My name is Amy Mitchell.  This is my second session of classes in the masters program.  I am also enrolled in 503 Instructional Design this summer.  I am a second grade teacher at Wagonwheel Elementary in Gillette, Wyoming.  I just finished my second year teaching and I am very excited to learn how to incorporate blogs into my classroom.  Last year was the first year that our district provided classroom sets of iPad minis to 34 teachers.  This year, they will be providing 25 more sets to teachers throughout the district.  It is amazing how technology can transform your classroom and your teaching style.  I am eager to get to know everyone over the next seven weeks!

  1. How do you think it will be taking two classes this summer? I had originally signed up for 503 as well as this course, but dropped it when I realized they were only 7 week courses and I will be gone for 10 days on a trip. We also start the new school year Aug. 1, so it seemed like way too much to take both courses. I'm not sure if I made the right decision or not! How's the workload feeling?

    1. Hi Amanda,
I am actually really intimidated by 503. I think that course will be very taxing. I'm not working anywhere else this summer, so I'm just thinking of these classes as my full time job. Our school year doesn't start until 17, so these classes will be done that week before I have to go back, (even though I'll have to start working in my classroom before then). I did find one thing that really helped me this last week while I was camping at the lake. I opened the pdf reading on my iPad and then downloaded them into iBooks. This way I could read them without any internet connection. That way I didn't fall behind on the readings this first week.
Where are you going for 10 days? Will you have an internet connections while you are there?

    1. Hi Brian,
Thanks for the comment. It is nice to meet you as well. This summer really will be busy and I'm sure it is going to fly by. I read in your post that you chose Blogger because your school uses many of the Google applications. This is true of my school as well. I'm hoping that this will help me incorporate blogging into my classroom seamlessly.
      Good luck this summer,
      Amy
